It was a shame about the scaffolding - but these renovations need doing. The staff were all extremely helpful, friendly, courteous and efficient. Our room was small, but adequate, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was tiny, and unlike one of your trip advisor reviews suggested, did not need a bath. A shower would have been adequate and would have given a more useable space. Especially since the drip strip was missing from the shower screen, which had we not spotted it and taken remedial action (with a rolled up towel) would have resulted in a flood and an ensuing slip hazard. During the night we were awoken by the continuous creaking of the unsecured floorboards in the room above. We aske to move rooms which the staff facilitated for us. In the second room the bathroom was a more useable size, and we were not awoken during the night. However, as I was moving about I was aware of our floorboards creaking, so hoped the residents below us were not unduly disturbed. The smallness of both rooms meant that to move about and to access the drawers we had to keep moving the occasional table and the chairs. Not an ideal set-up for people staying longer than our three nights with their necessary luggage. the restaurant service was friendly, if a little slow. I had to ask for the fruits and eggs to be replenished on two mornings. The décor is a little tired too. I suggest your managers take a trip and check out the Midland in Manchester which is a similar age.
